Thanks for posting about this – very interesting.
I went to an event where two translators did a translation of the same text in the presence of the author. It was fascinating to see how greatly their versions differed – I think only one word was the same in each translation! They also seemed to learn from the other’s approach and choice of words/phrases so I can see how Davis would get something useful from looking at other translations.
